Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 — Arrival in Stone Town

Arrive at Zanzibar airport and transfer to Tembo House Hotel, a beautifully restored historic building on the Stone Town waterfront. After settling in, take an introductory stroll through the narrow, winding streets of this ancient trading port — notice the intricately carved Zanzibari doors, the scent of cardamom coffee drifting from cafés, and the melodic call to prayer from the city's many mosques. In the evening, make your way to the Forodhani Gardens night market, where vendors grill fresh seafood and Zanzibari pizza over open coals. Eat with the locals on the seafront as dhows sail across the sunset.

Dinner

Day 2 — Stone Town Tour & Spice Farm

After breakfast, your guide leads you on a comprehensive walking tour of Stone Town. Explore the former Slave Market and its haunting underground chambers, visit the Sultan's Palace Museum, and admire the waterfront Beit el-Ajaib (House of Wonders). The architecture tells the story of Zanzibar's layered history — African, Arab, Indian, and European influences woven into every coral stone wall. Mid-morning, depart for a spice plantation in the island's lush interior. As you walk among the trees, your guide invites you to touch, smell, and taste fresh cinnamon bark, vanilla pods, nutmeg, cloves, black pepper, and tropical fruits straight from the branch. A traditional Swahili lunch prepared with the spices you have just discovered follows. Return to Stone Town for a free evening — perhaps a sundowner on a rooftop terrace.

Day 3 — Stone Town to Upendo Beach

After a relaxed breakfast with views over the dhow harbor, take one last wander through Stone Town's alleys — perhaps picking up some local spices, handmade soaps, or a kikoi from the shops. Mid-morning, your driver transfers you across the island to Upendo Beach Zanzibar on the stunning southeastern coast. Check in and let the beach take over. The afternoon is pure relaxation: swim in the warm Indian Ocean, lounge beneath a palm-thatched umbrella, and watch the tide roll in and out over the coral sand. As the sun sets, dinner is served at Upendo's beachfront restaurant.

Breakfast, Dinner

Day 4 — Beach & Departure

Your final morning in paradise. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast, take a long walk on the beach, and soak in the last hours of Indian Ocean calm. Swim, read, or simply do nothing at all — it is your last chance to bottle up the spirit of Zanzibar before returning to reality. At the appropriate time, your driver transfers you to the airport for your onward journey.
