Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1 — Arrival in Zanzibar
Touch down at Abeid Amani Karume International Airport, where our representative welcomes you with a cool towel and the island's signature hospitality. Transfer 90 minutes across the island to Zuri Zanzibar Hotel & Resort on the northwest coast. The resort is a masterpiece of barefoot luxury — private bungalows nestled in a tropical garden that slopes down to a pristine stretch of white sand. After check-in, let the beach work its magic. Swim in the impossibly blue water, find a hammock, and watch your first Zanzibari sunset. Dinner is served at the resort's renowned restaurant.
Day 2 — Beach Day & Sunset Dhow Cruise
Wake naturally to the sound of waves. The morning is yours — perhaps a yoga session overlooking the ocean, snorkeling in the house reef, or a long walk along the beach. After a light lunch (own account), the afternoon brings the iconic Zanzibar experience: a sunset dhow cruise. Step aboard a traditional wooden dhow, its lateen sail billowing in the trade winds, and sail into the golden light as the sun sinks toward the horizon. Fresh fruit, chilled drinks, and the gentle creak of the wooden hull make this an unforgettable afternoon. Return to shore for dinner under the stars.
Day 3 — Mnemba Atoll Snorkeling
After an early breakfast, depart for the Mnemba Atoll marine conservation area — widely considered one of the best snorkeling and diving sites in all of Africa. The boat ride to the atoll takes approximately 45 minutes from the resort. Slip into the warm, turquoise water and discover a living aquarium: vibrant coral gardens teeming with angelfish, parrotfish, trumpetfish, and, with luck, green turtles gliding gracefully past. Dolphins are frequently spotted during the crossing. A freshly prepared seafood barbecue is served on a sandbank at low tide. Return to the resort by mid-afternoon to recover with a swim and a nap in the shade.
Day 4 — Beach Relaxation & Transfer to Stone Town
Your final morning at Zuri Zanzibar. Take an early swim, linger over breakfast, and pack your bags with sand still between your toes. Midday, transfer to Stone Town — the historic heart of Zanzibar and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Check into Tembo House Hotel on the historic waterfront. In the afternoon, your guide leads you through the labyrinth of narrow alleys, past ornately carved wooden doors, bustling bazaars, and ancient coral stone buildings. Visit the former Slave Market, the bustling Darajani Market, and Freddie Mercury's birthplace. As evening falls, head to Forodhani Gardens where the night market comes alive with sizzling grills and the scent of Zanzibari pizza.
Day 5 — Departure
Enjoy a final Swahili breakfast on the Tembo House terrace, watching the dhows bob in the harbor and the morning ferry arrive from Dar es Salaam. Take one last stroll through Stone Town's quiet morning streets — perhaps picking up a few packets of Zanzibari spices or a bottle of local perfume as souvenirs. At the appointed time, transfer to the airport for your onward journey, carrying with you the colors, scents, and serenity of the Spice Island.
