Day Trip — Chemka Hot Springs
Depart Moshi in the morning for the approximately 1-hour drive to the village of Rundugai. The journey passes through dry savannah and Maasai lands, the landscape a stark contrast to the lush oasis that awaits. Arrive at Chemka Hot Springs and step into a scene that feels almost too beautiful to be real: a series of natural pools of the clearest turquoise water, fed by underground geothermal springs, surrounded by a dense canopy of fig and palm trees. The water stays at a consistently warm temperature year-round, making it perfect for swimming, floating, and simply relaxing. Brave the rope swing for a thrilling splash into the deepest pool, or find a shaded spot on the grassy bank with your feet in the water. Vervet monkeys chatter in the trees above and kingfishers skim the surface. A picnic lunch is served on the banks before you swim a little more and then reluctantly leave this hidden paradise. Return to Moshi by late afternoon.
