Itinerary

Day Trip — Materuni Waterfall & Coffee Tour

Depart Moshi in the morning and drive approximately 45 minutes to the village of Materuni, nestled on the lower slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro at around 1,800 meters. Your local Chagga guide leads you on a gentle 40-minute hike through lush coffee and banana groves, with Kilimanjaro's snow-capped peak occasionally revealing itself above the clouds. The trail follows a stream through the forest, with butterflies and tropical birds providing constant company. Arrive at the spectacular Materuni Waterfall — an 80-meter cascade thundering into a clear, cool pool. Take a refreshing swim before returning to the village, where the coffee experience begins. Under your guide's instruction, you will roast green coffee beans over an open fire, pound them with a traditional wooden mortar and pestle, and brew the freshest cup of Arabica coffee you will ever taste. A delicious home-cooked Chagga lunch completes the experience. Return to Moshi by mid-afternoon.
