Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1 — Arrival in Arusha
Touch down at Kilimanjaro International Airport where your Africa Merit representative will welcome you with a warm smile and transfer you to Arusha Planet Lodge. Take the afternoon to unwind by the pool, stroll through the tropical gardens, and enjoy a safari briefing. A delicious dinner at the lodge sets the tone for the adventure ahead.

Day 2 — Arusha to Tarangire National Park
After a hearty breakfast, set off for Tarangire National Park. This underrated gem boasts Tanzania's largest concentration of elephants and a landscape dotted with ancient baobab trees. Spend the day on game drives along the Tarangire River, spotting elephant families, giraffes, wildebeest, zebra, and colorful bird species. As the sun sets, retreat to Tarangire Safari Lodge perched on the escarpment overlooking the river.

Day 3 — Tarangire to Lake Manyara National Park
Enjoy a final morning game drive in Tarangire before departing for Lake Manyara National Park. Day 4 — Lake Manyara to Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, drive up the escarpment through the fertile highlands to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater — a natural wonder that must be seen to be believed. Spend a full day on the crater floor, where the Big Five roam against a backdrop of soda lakes and lush grasslands. Day 5 — Ngorongoro to Serengeti National Park
Bid farewell to the crater and journey into the legendary Serengeti. En route, you may stop at Olduvai Gorge to stand at one of the most important paleoanthropological sites in the world. Enter the Serengeti through Naabi Hill Gate and embark on your first game drive across the vast golden plains. Look for lion prides lounging on kopjes and cheetah scanning the grasslands. Arrive at Serengeti Sopa Lodge as the sun drops below the horizon.

Day 6 — Full Day Serengeti Game Drive
Wake before dawn for an early morning game drive when predators are at their most active. Day 7 — Another Full Day in the Serengeti
Your final full day in the Serengeti offers another opportunity to explore remote corners of the park. Your guide will tailor the route based on recent sightings and wildlife movements. This unhurried pace allows for those magical, unscripted moments that make an African safari truly unforgettable. One last night at Serengeti Sopa Lodge.

Day 8 — Serengeti to Arusha
Savor one final sunrise game drive through the Serengeti, making the most of every last sighting. After a relaxed brunch at the lodge, begin the journey back to Arusha, game viewing en route through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Arrive in Arusha by late afternoon, where you will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight or a well-deserved beach extension in Zanzibar.
