Visa & Entry Requirements

Most visitors to Tanzania require a visa. You can obtain a visa on arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, Julius Nyerere International Airport (Dar es Salaam), and at major land border crossings. However, we strongly recommend applying for an e-visa online before travel to avoid queues.

The Tanzania e-visa can be applied for at the official government portal. The process is straightforward — you will need a digital passport photo, a copy of your passport bio page, and your travel itinerary. Processing typically takes 10 business days.

A single-entry tourist visa costs USD 50 for most nationalities (USD 100 for US citizens). The visa is valid for 90 days from the date of issue.

Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your intended departure date from Tanzania and have at least two blank pages for entry and exit stamps.

Yellow fever vaccination is required if you are arriving from or have recently visited a yellow fever endemic country. Check with your local health authority or travel clinic for the most up-to-date requirements.
