Day Trip — Arusha National Park

Depart Moshi or Arusha in the morning for the short drive to Arusha National Park. Upon arrival, your adventure begins with a 2-hour guided walking safari accompanied by an armed ranger — one of the few places in Tanzania where you can safely walk among wildlife on foot. The trail winds through acacia woodland and open grassland, bringing you remarkably close to giraffe, buffalo, warthog, and various antelope species. Your ranger shares knowledge of tracks, medicinal plants, and birdlife. Next, drive to the Momela Lakes for an optional canoe safari (seasonal) — glide silently across the water among hippopotamus and spectacular flocks of greater and lesser flamingos. After a picnic lunch with views of Mount Meru, continue the afternoon on a traditional game drive through the park's varied habitats, from montane forest alive with colobus monkeys to the rim of Ngurdoto Crater — a miniature caldera often described as a little Ngorongoro. Return to Moshi or Arusha by late afternoon, having experienced one of East Africa's most diverse day-trip safaris.
