Kilimanjaro is one of the most spectacular sights to see not just in Tanzania but quite possibly in the whole of Africa. At an almighty 5895m, it is the tallest mountain in Africa (not surprisingly nicknamed the “roof of Africa”) and is the tallest free-standing mountain in the world that can
be climbed freely without the need for technical equipment. Ice capped all year round it is in fact a dormant (but not extinct!) volcano..We offer all routes for Kilimanjaro. Machame and Marangu are considered to be the easiest with high completion rates. The only drawback with these routes is that they are the main ones used by most tour companies and so have high levels of traffic. Both of these routes are about 100kms in total. The Machame route is based on tented accommodation and is a 7-8 day trek, whereas the Marangu route is based on hut accommodation (hut accommodation is on a communal dormitory basis with washing facilities) and is a 6-7 day trek.
These are steep climbing routes that require good fitness and health. Technical climbing routes exist on Kilimanjaro and other massifs in the area and can be arranged for interested parties
At 4,566 metres, Mt Meru, the fifth-highest mountain in Africa, is one of the continent’s most rewarding climbs, not only for the achievement itself, but also for the beautiful plants and animals found on its forested slopes. Mt Meru is the centerpiece of Arusha National Park.
We offer a 3-day, 2-night climb which takes you through beautiful forest, to the crater rim, which you will cross to reach the summit. From there, you will have stunning views of the Momella Lakes, Kilimanjaro, Lake Natron, and the distant plains.
Mt Meru is a great alternative to Kilimanjaro for those on a budget or who find the prospect of climbing Kilimanjaro too daunting.

Ol’Doinyo Lengai is the “Mountain of God” for the Massai. On its top, the god of the tribe has its home. This beautiful stratovolcano lies on the Rift Valley, a cliff-like scrap running from Djibouti to Mozambique. Ol’Doinyo Lengai is one of the most active volcanos of this fault – and moreover, it is the only active volcano in the world with carbonatite lava.
The volcano is rarely visited, because you need two days from the nearest airport to reach it. Maybe one or two groups of tourists/scientists climb it a day.
The climb is not that hard – always about 45° slopes – near the top you have to use your hands because of ash and lava channels.
Views in the north from its summit crater lies the hot barren salt flats of Lake Natron stretch into the distance, beyond lies the Kenyan border. The day temperatures by the lake often exceed 40°C and a few animals survive here with the flamingo making its home here as breeding grounds, nesting on the salty surface on upraised mounds. The view on the east is dominated by Mt Kilimanjaro and to the west the forested escarpments and hills comprising the western slopes of the Great African Rift Valley.
